Confused Man with Blow Torch and Galoshes Arrested at Burn Boot Camp

LA CROSSE, WIS — A Shelby man is in custody Wednesday following an incident law enforcement is calling a result of extreme confusion.

Ronald “Pickles” Shockamel, 46, was arrested inside Burn Boot Camp’s location just off of Highway 16 for disorderly conduct. According to the police report, Shockamel arrived at the work-out studio carrying a BernzOmatic propane torch and a pair of rubber galoshes. Police say he walked to the center of the studio just in front of the instructor and began to melt his rubber galoshes with the propane torch, screaming, “This is what you guys do here right? How is my technique? Are you sure this will help me lose weight?”

“I think the worst part was the smell,” instructor Katy Freehan said. “I mean, I’ve smelled burnt rubber before, and I’ve smelled sweaty moms trying to get back into the dating game but the mixture of the two? It was… it was unbearable.”

Shockamel is held on $5000 cash bond and awaits his initial appearance at the La Crosse County courthouse. According to his lawyer, he lost 17 pounds as a result of the incident.
