Murphy’s Frame and Axle Bans Conversion Therapy

LA CROSSE, WIS — An automotive shop in La Crosse says it’s banning the controversial practice of car conversion therapy at its location on the north side of La Crosse.

For years, the company’s motto was “We Make ‘Em Go Straight!”, but now owner Mark Murphy says it is time for a change.

“We realized that you can’t force a car to go straight just because you want it to,” Murphy said. “Sometimes cars were just made as Kia’s… there’s nothing you can do about that.”

One commercial shoot in particular tipped Murphy off that his mechanics were less than enthusiastic about the company’s slogan.

“The commercial was supposed to look like we were doing one of those Monday Night Football line-ups, but everyone was so sad and dejected it ended up coming across like the beginning of an AA meeting or something,” Murphy said. “That’s when I started to wonder if something was up.”

Murphy said he hasn’t decided on a new slogan yet, but the current front-runner is “We Make ‘Em Go… Okay?”
